In this first class, we are going to highlight the recovery process and what we will be accomplishing in this course. Usually, people enter into codependence recovery with a relationship problem or need. Thus, they are looking for God’s redemption enter their lives by meeting that need. But relational issues aren’t that easy. They are quite systemic and require an understanding of what is happening in our own internal world. That’s because we view our relationships through a filter of our own experiences. We project what we carry inside us, even if we aren’t aware.
The purpose of this workshop is to cleanse our “filter” and to bring wholeness internally. This will dramatically different in each of us. It isn’t a “fix all” because processes of the heart truly are life long. There may be immediate and dramatic changes – just the same – there may be changes so gradual we feel we aren’t progressing. It doesn’t matter because this is your process, with a God who knows you and has a pathway to take you from where you are, to where He’s calling you to go.
We come before willing to see be seen and known as we are – and prepared to experience you in Your fullness. We need more of you in every capacity of our lives. We need to understand your purposes for our relationships. We need to have the barriers removed that have caused us to detach or to hide our true potential. Place internal flashlights in us that will help us to see the places we have not yet understood. Give us courage to be fully invested in your purposes, knowing that you love us, and that your plans for us are good. Protect and guard the dreams we carry and the relationships that we need healing, trusting that you are big enough and worthy to keep them safe. We stand in agreement that we are overcomers in Christ Jesus – that there is nothing, past or present, that can change the purposes you have for our lives. We open our hearts and declare that we are ready to receive.
In Jesus’ name – Amen!
