We all have our “Egypt” that we are fleeing from – and our “promised land” we are waiting to seize. Learning how to cope during the “inbetween” of these realities is what this chapter reveals. It also discusses the preparatory work of the heart – which includes the difficult but crucial dynamic of “grieve and release.” In recovery, we set out to change and to embark on a new adventure. While we focus on the end result, God cares about the deeper spiritual needs we carry. Thus, His journey allows us to go through valleys and deserts to reveal our weaknesses as part of the grand plan to solidify transformation in our lives. This isn’t to hurt us, but to refine us and love us into wholeness. He is ultimately preparing us to fulfill a divine purpose – that is goes far above and beyond our current circumstances.

Prayer:
Father God,
I stand ready with the solid ground you’ve brought me to waiting to let you prepare me for my destiny. I realize that while I want you to rebuild my life in a moment, this process takes time and precision, guided and led by you. Show me what needs healing, expose what is still hurting and teach me how to cope and grieve effectively. I want to see the world as you see it, to be led through your perspective rather than my own survival tools. I pray for the peace and security of the Holy Spirit to enable me to experience your presence. Teach me to hear your voice, to follow you and to stay connected.
